Copenhagen 〰️ Denmark 〰️
Cardamon buns, cardamon buns and more Cardamon buns. That’s basically what comes to mind when reflecting on times spent in Copenhagen. But whether it’s cardamon buns or other delights like coffee or wine, the city of Copenhagen does all culinary things well. If The Bear didn’t make you want to visit Denmark’s capital, this list might. Here is my completely subjective subject to change over time guide to Copenhagen.
Cafes and Bakeries
Coffee Collective - Multiple Locations
Arguably, and in my opinion, one of the best coffee roasters in the world. Coffee Collective are B Certified and source, roast, brew and serve deliciously crafted coffee every time. Quality is always on show at all of their locations. Plus, they also have a bakery called Collective Bakery worth a visit.
As proclaimed on their website, Prolog aims “to add to the quality of life by giving people better coffee experiences.” You‘ll certainly notice that when visiting their shops and trying their in-house roasted coffee.
With so many great bakeries, it’s hard to narrow them down - but Juno needs to be on the list, and their cardamon bun as well as cookies are some of the best.
Hart Bageri - Multiple Locations
Now with what feels like a location in every different part of the city, Hart strives for quality with every baked good.
I’ve visited many cafes but maybe none with a nicer fit-out and interior than those of both April venues. From their very own April brewer. for filter coffee and Modbar setup to the actual furniture, Scandinavian design is at the forefront.
If you’re into specialty coffee, you’ve probably had La Cabra before - and for good reason. Reason enough to go directly to source when in Copenhagen.
A cozy yet large high-ceiling interior makes Lili Bakery truly special, wth an open kitchen and plenty of options on offer.
Atelier September - Multiple Locations
The brunch is really great here. Danish style menu with favourite such as a breakfast plaste of sourdough, cheese, butter and jam. A must visit.

Restaurants and Bars
108/108 on the Corner - Christianshavn
I’m not even going to bother listing Noma because you either have it on you’re ist already or won’t be able to get a booking. So enter 108, an exceptional fine dining experience located in Christianshavn. You can also visit their wine bar and cafe during the day 108 on the Corner for a more relaxed dining experience.
Don’t you love it when places do one thing and one thing only? That’s GROD, who do porridge and do it really well.
Rodder and Vin - Ravnsborggade
Rodder and Vin is an intimate wine bar and bottleshop perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a place to crack a bottle or two and hang out all night long.
Fast-paced cosy 21-seater Japanese ramen joint. No booking can be made here so keep in mind you may have to wait in line. It’s well worth it though, especially for their house-made noodles and shoyu broth.
You may recognize Beast from Netflix’s Chef Table. The pizza here is insanely good - and when it comes to pizza I am most critical.
Situated right across from Baest is Brus, a brewery with plenty of options on tap from easy-drinking lagers to more out their sour beers.
Hija de Sanchez - Flæsketorvet
A Mexican taco spot that has a simple menu of al pastor, barbacoa and vegetarian options on offer.
A unique on the water cafe during the day and wine bar at night that just so happens to also have a sauna that you can book to enjoy before or after you dine.
You have to try a hot dog when in Copenhagen and DØP is the place to do so. Using organic sausage and a freshly baked wholewheat bun. Who says no?
